Esko Girls Repeat as State True Team Champions

  The Esko girls Track & Field team repeated as Class A True Team Champions Saturday at the Minnesota State True Team Championships in Stillwater, MN.  Esko beat out Blue Earth with 365.5 points to Blue Earth's 426. The Esko boys also finished a very respectable fourth.

Carlton Athletes Honored At Athletic Banquet

  Athletes from all Carlton sports got together Friday night for the annual Carlton Sports Awards Banquet. Four sport standout Lindsey Dahl-Holm received the coveted athlete of the year award on the girls side while the boys award was a split decision, with Dekota Frear and Colton Godbout sharing the athlete of the year award.

  Last season when Fargo Shanley made the trip across the state of Minnesota to play high school baseball games against local area teams, it was the weather that affected the outcome limiting the Deacons to only one game. This time around, the wood bat Deacons came to the Twin Ports and will leave the area with a 3-1 record on this road trip.

   BARNUM- The Lady Bombers of Barnum opened the section 5A playoffs on Friday afternoon with a 9-4 victory over the Ogilvie Lions with a 9-4 win at home. The Bombers jumped out to an early lead and never looked back Friday as they rolled to the five run win.

  A significant problem, decades in the making, has risen to the forefront for Esko Athletics. In separate but related instances, the field lighting as well as the bleachers and press box were recently red tagged and put out of service, creating an embarrassing and potentially expensive situation for the football and girls soccer teams.
